Eichler West\, PhD\, QEEG-D\nTo register\, click HE RE\nAPA approved CE credit is available for this webinar.\n\nArtificial in telligence has become ubiquitous in the news and across the devices and so ftware we use every day. This presentation will provide an introduction to machine learning algorithms and their applications relevant to the brain research and mental health community. A brief history of the evolution of machine learning reveals their inspiration from and relationship to the pr ocessing that takes place in both individual and ensembles of neurons\; fu rther inspiration includes the emergence of neuromorphic hardware that emu lates the recurrent\, asynchronous\, spatiotemporal nature of cortical pro cessing. Four applications will be highlighted: 1) EEG and MRI-based bioma rker discovery for mental health disorders\; 2) the application of Chat-GP T technologies on MRI and MEG data to decode word sequences and hand gestu res\; 3) transfer learning on light sheet microscopy data to map the conne ctome\; and\, 4) and commercially available applications for mental health support using empathy-enhanced language models. The discussion closes by sharing limitations of these approaches and suggestions for critically eva luating the literature.
